Intel ATX12VO Desktop Power Supply Design Guide
ATX12VO 10-Pin 12 V-Only Motherboard Power Pinout
The ATX12VO connector replaces the 24-pin ATX plug on 12 V-only systems, where the motherboard makes its own 5 V and 3.3 V. Select a contact to see its role.
Before you wire
- Not interchangeable with a classic 24-pin ATX supply: ATX12VO has no 3.3 V or 5 V rails, and its standby rail is 12 V instead of 5 V.

| Pin | Signal | Function | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| PS_ON# | Power supply on, active low: the motherboard pulls it to ground to start the main +12 V output | Standard | |
| GND | Ground return | Standard | |
| GND | Ground return | Standard | |
| GND | Ground return | Standard | |
| I_PSU% | Power supply load signal: reports the +12 V power being delivered as a percentage of the supply's rated output | Standard | |
| PWR_OK | Power good: goes high when the +12 V output is within regulation | Standard | |
| +12VSB | +12 V standby: stays on while the PC is off (replaces the +5 VSB of classic ATX) | Standard | |
| +12V | +12 VDC main power | Standard | |
| +12V | +12 VDC main power | Standard | |
| +12V | +12 VDC main power; also carries the optional 12 V remote-sense wire | Standard |

About this connector
Ten-contact 12 V-only motherboard power connector with three +12 V contacts, +12 V standby, power control and status signals, and ground returns.
Notes
- The contact map shows the motherboard header, as in Intel Figure 5-2: the latch is above pins 10 to 6. The cable plug uses the same pin numbers.
- Intel rates it at 216 to 288 W, assuming 6 to 8 A per contact. Boards that need more use an optional extra board power connector.
Common use cases
- OEM and small-form-factor desktops designed for low idle power
Specifications
- Standard
- 4.2 mm pitch 2x5 power header
- Positions
- 10
